Preview 2010 Show Report Page 1 of 4
Coinslot No. 2129 16th - 22nd October 2009

'At the last Preview there were people that did want to buy equipment but could not get the finance to do so. Now that the banks are being encouraged to offer more support to small and medium-sized businesses, the hope is that it will help to boost sales at Preview 2010 and beyond.'
Liam Barrett of SAM Leisure

Preview 2011 dates announced
Next year sees Preview shifting slightly further back along the calendar to a later
October date. Be sure to pencil October 20 and 21 in your diaries. It might be
later, but essentially it comes before the half-term break.

Interest from abroad
With the doors closed for business on Preview 2010, thoughts are already turning
to next year’s event. According to organiser Philip Howard, there has been a significant amount of interest from potential exhibitors from overseas.

Preview 2010
Industry toughs it out as Preview meets major challenges head-on

SHOW REPORT
PREVIEW 2010
The uplift in machine stakes and prizes should, in theory, have contributed towards a stress-free, positively charged amusement and gaming show last week. The reality transpired to be markedly different. As those who were there at the Novotel will attest, it was more of a two-day endurance event than anything else. But thankfully, the industry got behind Preview 2010 to put on a display of dogged determination and tentatively identify some welcome, if meagre, signs of recovery. The lesson learned this year is that if the industry’s fortunes are to improve, it will be up to the business to force that recovery.

Showcasing the Mystro machine
Almotech
Brian Costigan and PJ O’Connor of Almotech were present at this year’s Preview to talk to UK customers about the benefits of operating their Mystro and Eclipse jukeboxes. Available in eight standard finishes, the Mystro on show at the Novotel came in stunning red livery. According to Costigan there had been a significant amount of interest generated on the first day of the show.

Three of the best by AMG
AMG Leisure
It was no surprise to find the AMG Leisure sales team in buoyant form on the opening day of Preview 2010. This year the firm had opted for a substantially bigger presence by taking no less than three separate stands - two in the Champagne Suite and one in the busy Entrance Hall - each packed with quality products. Pictured is the firm’s Mark Sowray, who was pleased with progress on day one and colleague David Sherwin.

Astra products just get better and better
Astra Games
While the industry continues to push on through tough trading conditions, it’s clear to see that Astra’s ethos of identifying fresh opportunities in difficult times shows no signs of relenting any time soon. The firm put on a storming display of great product lines as well as its ‘Cash for Scrap’ initiative. Astra’s design and games development executive, Andy Dinning, is pictured with B3 offering King Pots.

A product style for all sectors
Barcrest Group
With myriad product styles superbly represented by its distribution network, Barcrest chose to base its Preview presence away from the hustle and bustle of the show floor. The firm’s Nick Novak and Tim Kennedy, however, took time to
talk Coinslot through a portfolio of new and current product that’s bursting with variety and strong appeal and high on innovation. Novak and Kennedy are pictured with the firm’s D.I.C.E. SWP terminal.

If you can’t beat them join them
Betxtech
If you can’t beat the bookies, you have to join them. That was pretty much the message being promoted by Melcom Copeland of Betxtech last week. He was present to show AGC operators just how simple it is to adapt their existing business to incorporate LBO applications that facilitate ‘no-risk’ sports betting. Copeland added that Preview had enabled him to speak to several stakeholders about Betxtech’s offer.

Eat ‘em and smile
Brent Electronic
With prize redemption still capturing the imagination of the amusement industry, Preview provided Brent Electronic with the ideal platform to show, once again, the versatility of its Ticket Eater. The product, built by Deltronic Labs and distributed through Brent Electronic, is a perfect foil for the wide range of redemption games supplied by Brent. Pictured with the Ticket Eater are Steve Short and Darrell Symonds.

Keeping it Flex-ible
Brent Sales
Distributor Brent Sales went to great lengths to guarantee that its Clena-Flex skill-based prize game was in perfect shape for customers at this year’s Preview. Takuto Nohara from the game design section of Bandai Namco was on hand to ensure that the product’s set-up options were running just as they should be. The aim of the eight ‘set-ups’ is to allow operators to keep Clena-Flex fresh and attractive to players. Pictured are Takuto Nohara, Kazuko Minagawa and John Brennan.

Unlocking the betting potential
Cashpoint

William Bollom and Tassilo Tanzer of Cashpoint were keen to impress upon Preview visitors from the AGC sector that there is a perfect opportunity to unlock some serious potential from their premises. The firm says it will work with operators to enable terminal and over the counter betting. According to Bollom, he was encouraged to speak with a significant number of industry stakeholders over the two-day exhibition.
