Tough It Out Preview 2010
Despite continued tough trading, the organisers of Preview 2010 - Philip and Ylva Howard - managed to pull off another busy show last week. According to Philip Howard, the attendance was higher than had been anticipated.
“It’s exceeded our expectations, both with the numbers - because we didn’t expect so many through the doors - and also with the quality,” he told Coinslot: “That, at the end of the day, is all that matters. We had all the right people here and we know that some have done business. I think we’ve worked a small miracle, in the current economic climate, to achieve what we have and we’ve taken great satisfaction from that.”
Howard added that while the contraction of the show into a one-floor event clearly gave a busier feel, it did cause a problem in that costs are inevitably spread among fewer exhibitors.
He added: “When the good times return, which they inevitably will, we’ll open up downstairs and we’ll have it packed. The dates are set for next year - we’ve had to move it back because IBM booked the Novotel for the first two weeks in October. But we will make our plans in the usual way - there’s a lot that’s going to happen within Preview over the next 12 months.”
