As the UK coin-op industry prepares to congregate at the London Novotel West, Preview organiser Ylva Howard gave My Diary a behind-the-scenes look at its organisation.
The last week before Preview is always hectic but also very satisfying as I see the work of the last 9 months come together. On Monday I have a meeting with my recruitment specialist to finalise details of the reception and registration staff for the Preview. It is essential that we have personable, friendly people who are efficient, as this is the first impression that visitors will have of the show and our organisation. Tuesday will be spent going through floor plans and the individual stand requirements with our stand contractor. The following day, I do the same thing but with the electrical contractor - confirming that the supply to each stand has been ordered correctly.
By Thursday, it is time to have my final meeting with the team at Preview in order to deal with any last minute issues, as something always crops up in the eleventh hour. Friday is packing day in the office, make sure we have everything we are going to need at the show. On Saturday I will be moving in to the Novotel London West with my husband Philip. We will be there for the week, so it is lucky that the staff there do all they can to make life comfortable for us.
After an early night, I will be up bright and early to deal with the stand contractors, electricians and flooring people who will all arrive to start work constructing the stands, getting them ready for the exhibitors and machines, which will arrive on Monday morning first thing. On the Sunday night I know I will be buzzing with anticipation for the week ahead.
