CROWN CONFIRM THEIR PREVIEW INTENTIONS

Project makes all the running in £70 stakes
Keen to help drive the industry forward through innovative and appealing games, Project is set to debut two new machines at Preview 2010.

Project is poised to make a big impact at Preview with two games, the Category C World of Poker and the aptly named Star Attraction (B3) both making their first industry appearances at the show. The debutants, together with the critically acclaimed World of Games Arcade, which has established itself as the dominant Category C product in both arcade and bingo sectors, can be seen on the stands of Project distributors Crown, MDM and RLMS.

To help with the industry-wide injection of Category C product, Project has made a manufacturer’s contribution, which has seen it adjust all of its Category C machines purchased before January 1 by £500, a move which makes it the UK’s most competitively priced games developer.

The 50p/£1 player-selectable World of Poker is a compendium comprising three of Project’s most successful poker games, Joker Poker, Find The Lady and Double Joker Poker. Regarded by many observers as the UK’s low-stake, high-volume poker experts, Project has rebalanced its games to deliver maximum cash box at 50p/£50 and £1/£70. Tested over a twelve-week period, income figures have confirmed both the loyalty of players to poker games and the appeal that higher jackpots have with this segment of the player-base.

Project managing director, Tony Boulton believes that poker games will play an important role in helping to rehabilitate bottom line profits for its arcade customers. He stated: “We have always felt there is a lot of income growth in poker and our test figures bear this out. It is absolutely clear that poker players are a distinct grouping, loyal to poker and respond positively to what are in effect bespoke games. We are very excited about the income performance figures coming back, which augurs well.”

World of Games, which was the first dedicated £70 Category C machine to achieve success in arcade and bingo, has seen its income increase week by week, to the current point where it is delivering what Tony Boulton describes as some excellent figures. “The summer months, particularly August, were difficult times for everyone testing. Now that we have returned to more normal trading patterns the figures being returned are consistently strong and have resulted in a robust order book,” he explained.

Project’s Star Attraction Category B3 features four new games - Wheel of Wins, Cashlines, Frozen Fortune and Double Joker Poker 500 - all of which deliver a fundamentally new experience for the player. Featuring a unique set of glasses, Star Attraction lives up to its name, bringing a vibrant and fresh look to sites. One of the product’s killer applications is Project’s ‘game within a game’, which keeps players on the machine after a big win by offering a second game programme on both Wheel of Wins and Cashlines.

Summarising the collection, Tony Boulton concluded: “Innovation and value are at the core of everything we try to do. A pattern is now emerging with £70. The average stake in a controlled research sample of our games on test was over 59p and I believe that we are now some way down the track of maximising the value of £70.”
