CONCEPT GAMES
Keeping Faith In Cat C
Showing a category C game Random Gold, Concept Games’ Diana Garforth admitted that her firm was looking forward to the next triennial review. Garforth explained that her company would be ready to adapt to whatever the triennial threw up. “We’re working hard on refreshing the category C market and we’re convinced there is still a demand for decent reel-based product,” she revealed. “With only four B3s allowed in AGCs these days, we thought it made perfect sense to take a fresh approach to cat C.'

CROLE'S AMUSEMENTS
Learn To Swim
A veteran of the fairground scene in south-east Asia, ex-operator Jamie Crole has now turned his experienced hand to distributing second-hand cranes and new skill games manufactured, respectively, by Belgian and Taiwanese companies. Crole kick-started his distributorship by buying 40 cranes in four different sizes from Sierra, but the prototype of Whirlpool, from Taiwanese firm Oatel, took centre stage at Crole’s Preview stand. “I’m selling these for £2,500. Operators will see quick returns and can buy the machines on interest-free credit if they like.”

FATSPANNER
Dark Destroyer Enters The Preview Ring
FatSpanner’s OPEN Black terminal, enigmatically billed as the dark destroyer, finally made its hotly anticipated debut appearance at Preview last week. The SWP terminal is leaner, sleeker and, importantly, more durable than its predecessor and benefits from FatSpanner’s self-styled “Best of British” approach. Pictured on the stand are Tony Broadwood and Alfio Monterosso.

FX SIMULATION
Causing A Commotion
Carla Fleming from FX Simulation revealed that Eastern Europe has proved a territory worth exploring for her firm’s simulation machines. “In countries such as Latvia, Ukraine and Bulgaria, this sort of machine is still relatively novel.” Flemingexplained that shopping centres, theme parks and entertainment centres were springing up in these countries. “One machine is currently on its way to St Petersburg and three new ones are off to brand new entertainment centres in Ukraine as their focal points.”

COSMIC VIDEO AMUSEMENTS
Video Focus
Dominating the entrance on the first floor of the Preview exhibition space, Cosmic Video Amusements was showcasing several products, both new and established. “Over the years we have slowly acquired more stand space as we progressed into video games,” said the company’s John Farrington. Heads-Up Challenge was the centrepiece to the company’s product portfolio at the show, followed closely by Blazing Angels, Sega UFO Catcher, Need for Speed Carbon and Rambo, among others.

CROWN DIRECT
A World Class Product Range
Like other distributors at Preview, Crown Direct had a stunning arrangement of products on offer - a fact that was not lost on the firm’s Dean Harding. He told Coinslot: “We’ve got some great products here. The way that manufacturers have applied innovation to video development and the quality of that development is second to none - it’s absolutely world class. The key is getting the business to buy into that.”

EMPIRE GAMES
Stand Of Plenty
A wide range of innovative new product was to be found on the Empire Games stand, including two new Lo Tech Category D AWPs aimed at bingo sector, Full House and Shooting Stars, a wall mounted version of Clockwork Oranges currently on test in an outdoor smoking shelter and Cashcade, a video AWP. Empire also took the opportunity to demonstrate its re-engineered Dynamic concept, a slightly lower cabinet that can be put back to back in an arcade’s central aisle and still allow floor-walkers full field of vision across the premises.

CUMMINS ALLISON
Cummins Have Got It Sorted
Coin handling specialists Cummins Allison were back at Preview last week minus one of their best known personnel, the recently retired Terry Lambert. But operating from their traditional stand location, right by the entrance to the Champagne Suite, Andrew Crowson and Michelle Lewis ensured it was business as usual for the firm as they promoted Cummins’ indispensible Jetsort and Jetscan products.

ELECTROCOIN SALES
Putting Product Top Of The Range
Visitors to Preview 2009 would need to go a long way to find a product range with more variety than that of Electrocoin Sales. Video, pinball and gaming were all well represented, with Incredible Technologies’ Powerputt and the Stern Pinball titles Batman and Indiana Jones taking top billing. There was plenty of attention focused, too, on the Taito driver, Battle Gear 4 Pro Tuned. Pictured with Powerputt is Electrocoin’s Jonathan Lauder.

GAMCARE TRADE SERVICES
Raising Profile
Exhibiting for the first time at Preview, Gamcare Trade Services came to the show to raise awareness of the social responsibility training, consultancy and certification services they provide, particularly to smaller operators who can find it harder to get the latest legislatory requirements. Stella Dalton, business development manager at GamCareTrade Services, commented: “Some of the larger companies can provide their own social responsibility training through in-house teams, but this might not be the case with the smaller independents, which is where we can help. I thank the organisers of Preview for inviting us to the show and providing us with such a big stand.”
