  Show Report Preview 2009 3 of 5
Coinslot No. 2076 October 10 - October 16 2008

GAMES MEDIA
Twice As Nice
Games Media chose Preview 2009 to unveil IND:E II, its new SWP cabinet for UK pub retailers with twice the gaming content of the previous version. IND:E II features a 32-game menu for greater customer choice, as well as a stylish, ergonomic design, high resolution touch screen and improved cabinet security. With a mix of Q&A, skill and word association games, including exclusive licensed titles such as Monopoly, Cluedo and a multiplayer version of Connect 4, the firm’s Mark Purdy was confident the new cabinet offered the choice players want. “The Champion feature brings the number one game to the centre of the screen - why go searching for your favourite game when we can bring it to you straight away?” Purdy added.

GAMES WAREHOUSE
Paragon Takes Next Step Forward
Having invested significant efforts in driving up awareness of the latest Paragon software update, Games Warehouse used the Bourg Suite at Preview 2009 as a fitting platform from which to let the product itself do the talking. Adding serious fun to the mix are two big titles; Dr Who and Trivia For Dummies 2nd Edition. Pictured are Joanne Glazebrook and Kully Rattu.

GEMINI GAMES
Let’s Get Digital
Taking centre stage on the Gemini Games stand was the Gemini, a low cost digital terminal. Demonstrating its versatility, the terminal was shown in its various options, including SWP games Cash Stacker and Nearest The Pin, Category C compendium Baby Vegas Casino and Category D game Spitoon. Gemini’s Barrie Knighton commented: “With the Gemini competitively priced and with no ongoing fees, we will have new game updates for Baby Vegas Casino ready to show ATEI. As the whole industry moves in this direction, we will continue to invest in the development of digital product.”

HARRY LEVY
Levy Stand Draws Plenty Of Attention
Talk of quiet times for the coin-op industry may persist, but a visit to the stand of Harry Levy Amusements at this year’s Preview could have told an altogether different story. The firm was kept extremely busy promoting its latest redemption gear; Big Bass Wheel and Strike it Rich. Harry Levy took time out for a photograph with well-known operator Harry Shipley.

HAZEL ELECTRONICS
Remote Control
With an array of components and spare parts amongst it offering, Hazel Electronics also took the opportunity to demonstrate the new client server version of its Site Manager system and a new GPRS Meter. The firm’s Ray Hazelton explained: “This new version allows more than one person to access the system at a time, which means that a company can have its server based at one location with several members of staff using it remotely. The GPRS Meter can be connected to virtually any type of machine and send data from remote locations via the mobile telephone network, enabling remote and single sites to be monitored and even reset remotely.”

GENESIS
Sights Set On UK Launch
Having spent the majority of its lifespan achieving major success on foreign shores, Genesis is about to launch a Category C AWP destined for the UK. The firm’s Steve Bierrum intimated as much at last week’s Preview, saying that the machine would be ready for a full British launch at the forthcoming ATEI. But for the purposes of this year’s Preview, the onus was firmly on the company’s strong export portfolio. Bierrum is pictured with Amatic Industries’ Frog Princess.

GAME CONCEPTS
Into The Sea
The newly developed Deep Sea Treasure pusher took centre stage at Kent-based Game Concepts’ Preview stand. Deep Sea Treasure utilises the same advanced technological platform as Game Concepts’ Galaxy 21 pusher. Players use the high-speed coin-entries positioned to the left and right, or choose to use the left and right buttons to fire off their targeting coins in order to hit the on-screen characters. Game Concepts’ creative director Ben Wilson said site testing for the product begins this week and the product will be officially rolled out before Christmas, in time for ATEI.

HAUER & GROSSMAN
Comply Or Die
Hungarian outfit Hauer & Grossman brought a pair of casino-style multi-game cabinets to Novotel. While the machines were compliant in a number of eastern European countries, they are working on satisfying BACTA protocol by having twin hoppers installed. The company’s show debut was therefore very much an exercise in making key findings about UK legislation. “Once our machines have been approved for use in the UK, which could take up to four months, we will be attacking the category B3 and category C sectors,” the firm’s Laszlo Horkai (on the right of the picture) explained.

INFOGAME
Serving Clients With Speed
While Preview is renowned for being a UK-centric show, UK-based export specialist Infogame enjoyed interest from across Europe, including France and Spain. Group sales director Stephen Robins said the company is currently enjoying strong sales in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, the US and South America. Robins said Infogame was performing particularly well in the eastern European street market, serving clients who “find a market and want to collect their products quickly”.
